Snow, lots of snow, which is one of the reasons you should visit Poland in the winter.

This year there was no snowboarding in the Alps or all-inclusive getaway in Egypt. During a short winter break, we decided to chill out in the Polish Karkonosze Mountains. Why is that? They remind us of childhood. I think many of the Polish readers remember climbing the Śnieżka mountain or waterfalls in Szklarska Poręba – some magical places. Moreover, after spending a couple of months in England, where there’s never warm or cold, we’ve kinda longed for freezing cold temperatures and snow – the Polish way.

We’ve made our headquarters at the spa Cottonina in Świeradów-Zdrój.swieradow-zdroj

Where they’ve been working and decorating glass according to 150-year long tradition. You can see the entire process first-hand and then do a little shopping. The Crystal Coffee Shop serves delicious homemade pies and real, thick, hot chocolate.39284425 22 21What else is in the area? One of the biggest attractions is the impressive Chocha Castle in Sucha.

Here’s where the “Tajemnica twierdzy szyfrów” TV series, as well as one of the Polish “Top Model” episodes were shot. We didn’t really feel like spending a night in a medieval chamber, though. The castle seems rather empty and gray – unlike the Blickling Estate, for example. Let’s hope it has some bright days ahead of it.435

So, when are you hitting the Karkonosze Mountains?
